Austin Leg Vein Treatments
Our leg vein center specializes in the latest leg vein treatments available. We specialize in leg vein removal therapies. We serve metro Austin and the surrounding regions of Round Rock and Cedar Park Texas. Our board-certified vein specialist did a dedicated residency and fellowship program at the Houston and Dallas medical centers that focused on the treatment of circulation diseases of the leg veins and cosmetic leg vein treatments. Using the latest new technologies, such as lasers, radiofrequency catheters, and thermolysis devices, most vein conditions can be effectively treated. All of the treatments that we offer are FDA approved and are performed in our Vein Centers.
The focus of our vein centers on the cosmetic treatment of unsightly veins of the legs, including removal of spider veins, reticular veins, and varicose veins. An individualized treatment plan is formulated for each patient that focuses on the particular type and number of veins that one displays on their legs. Spider veins and varicose veins are different conditions and each requires a specific treatment modality to cure.
Common Leg Vein Treatments
The most common treatment modality for leg varicose veins at Austin Vein Specialists involves utilizing radiofrequency heat energy to remove the veins, with this treatment being referred to as radiofrequency vein ablation. It is also referred to under the trade names of VNUS closure fast procedure or the Venefit procedure. It is a very successful treatment with about a 95% effectiveness rate. This state-of-the-art therapy has an over 95% success rate of permanently curing the underlying cause of leg varicose veins so that the condition does not return.
The 2nd most common treatment for leg varicose veins involves the use of a laser. The treatment is known by several names, including endovenous laser ablation, endovenous laser treatment, or the Venacure EVLT procedure. Our physician is an expert in this modern leg vein removal treatment. Just like radiofrequency vein ablation therapy, EVLT laser therapy has an over 95% success rate.
Other Leg Vein Removal Treatments
Increasingly, other newer FDA-approved varicose vein therapies are being utilized. One of these newer leg vein removal therapies includes the use of a medication called Varithena. This medication is a proprietary micro-foam medication that is injected into the lumen of diseased veins to cause them to close and disappear. The treatment is often referred to as endovenous chemical ablation. The Varithena medication is very effective in the treatment of surface varicose veins and tortuous leg veins.
The latest FDA-approved leg vein treatment for varicose veins and venous reflux disease (the cause of varicose veins) is a therapy called VenaSeal. Venaseal is a uniquely designed medical “super glue” that literally causes the abnormal veins to be glued shut. This therapy allows immediate return to all normal activities, including exercise. It also avoids the need to wear compression stockings after treatment. Additionally, only a single needle injection is required, so it tends to be associated with less procedural discomfort than many of the other therapies. VenaSeal treatment has an over 95% success rate, equivalent to the other varicose vein therapies.
Other treatment modalities for leg varicose veins include ambulatory micro-phlebectomy, ultrasound-guided foam sclerotherapy, and vein stripping. At Austin Vein Specialists we always utilize modern methods of vein illumination to visualize any abnormal leg veins in order to obtain the best treatment results.
