What is A Phlebologist?
A phlebologist is an expert in the field of vein disease management. Physicians that focus on phlebology spend their careers pursing the study of vein conditions. These MDs are able to diagnose and treat all forms of vein pathology. Phlebologists are proficient in physical examination of veins, diagnostic imaging of veins, and interventional therapy of vein diseases. In order to become board-certified in the field of phlebology a doctor must first pursue vascular fellowship training and then be approved by the Vascular Surgery Board of the American Board of Surgery.
