Cosmetic Spider Vein Removal Costs

Spider,Veins,,Medical,Laser,,Treatment

Cost of Cosmetic Leg Vein Therapies

The cost of leg vein removal therapy will vary based on many factors, such as which type of treatment you are having done (e.g. laser or sclerotherapy or VeinGogh), what types of veins are being treated (spider veins vs. reticular veins vs. varicose veins), how many areas need to be treated (the more veins you have the more treatment will be required), whether one or both legs are being treated, whether only the leg needs treatment or whether the feet and ankles need treatment as well, and how long the treatment takes. The most important aspect to consider when considering the cost is WHO WILL BE PERFORMING THE THERAPY. There is a major difference between a newly trained person at a Med Spa that may have very little experience versus a board-certified vein MD with decades of experience. The risks of interventional therapies and the outcomes of interventional therapies have been proven to directly correlate to the level of training and experience of the individual performing the procedure. You do get what you pay for.

Who Performs Your Procedure

At Austin Vein Specialists a board-certified physician with over 20 years of experience will be performing your procedure.  And Dr. Gotvald is triple board-certified in Vascular Surgery, Endovascular Surgery, Phlebology, and General Surgery.  So you know you will be in the best of hands with your vein procedure.  Since spa technicians and non-specialists in the United States are allowed to perform vein procedures with little to no oversight, the difference in the level of expertise you get at Austin Vein Specialists over another facility such as a Med Spa or dermatology office is quite dramatic.

What Type of Veins Are Being Treated

In general, smaller veins called spider veins are much easier to treat than larger veins, such as reticular veins or varicose veins.  So spider veins are less expensive to treat.  Many places that perform vein procedures will only offer treatments for certain types of veins.  It is common for some facilities to tell patients that they will only treat the spider veins but not the reticular veins or spider veins.  If more than one type of vein is present, the optimal treatment plan would involve treating ALL of the abnormal veins.  At Austin Vein Specialists we provide therapy for all types of unsightly veins– spider veins, reticular veins, and varicose veins.

What Type of Therapy is Being Performed?

The type of therapy that is being performed on your legs will obviously dictate the cost.  Therapies can vary from laser to Ohmic Thermolysis to IPL to medication injections such as Asclera Sclerotherapy.  The cost of each type of therapy can vary rather significantly.  Which therapy is chosen for your particular type(s) of leg veins is a critical decision that will ultimately determine your cosmetic results (as well as the risks involves).  If the wrong therapy is chosen there can be an increased risk of skin damage with scarring or pigmentation that otherwise may have been avoidable.  That decision ultimately is determined by your medical provider.  That is why it is so important that you choose an appropriately trained and experienced Vein Specialist and Vascular Surgeon to determine which therapy is right for you.

Are One or Both Leg Being Treated

If you are having both legs treated then it will take the provider longer to perform the procedure.  The amount of mediation needed could also potentially increase with both legs.  The costs may therefore at some facilities if one leg vs. both legs are treated.  At Austin Vein Specialists we do not increase the charge to treat both legs simultaneously.  We will treat one leg and 2 legs for the same price.

Are Just the Legs Being Treated?

Many places that perform vein procedures will charge one price for the legs, but then the price increased if anywhere other than the legs are treated.  Many facilities that treat veins will ONLY treat leg veins above the ankles, but NOT treat other areas such as the ankles or feet or face.  At Austin Vein Specialist we do offer therapies for spider veins throughout the entire body.

How Many Veins Are Being Treated?

Some facilities may choose to charge someone to treat each individual vein or each individual cluster of veins.  At Austin Vein Specialists we do not use this approach.  Our approach allows the treatment of dozens of clusters of veins for a very reasonable price.

So What Is the Cost of Cosmetic Spider Vein Removal?

There is not a uniform price for spider vein treatments nationally or even locally. The amount that a facility charges and what you get for that fee varies significantly from one facility to the next. At Austin Vein Specialists the amount that we currently charge for a session of spider vein therapy for many clusters of spider veins on both legs is $650 currently (in 2023). And this involves the use of top-end brand-name medications (not cheaper generic versions) and the most modern of technologies. Most importantly you will have a board-certified Vein Specialist and Vascular Surgeon with extensive experience performing your procedure, thus providing you the best possible results with the lowest risk.
