The Varithena procedure is minimally invasive, with a doctor administering a small amount of medication through a catheter or by direct injection into the malfunctioning vein. No incision is required and the procedure usually lasts less than an hour.

Along with treating the appearance of varicose veins, Varithena provides relief from fatigued, heavy, achy, restless, crampy, swollen, throbbing, and itchy legs.

The treatment also neutralizes the potential for life-threatening consequences of varicose veins, such as phlebitis, venous stasis ulcers, blood clots, and pulmonary emboli.

Most patients can resume regular activities after treatment, however, heavy exercise should be avoided for one week. Walking daily for a minimum of ten minutes is advised, for at least one month following the procedure. Patients should avoid extended periods of inactivity.

I am thoroughly convinced that Dr. Gotvold saved my life between 2016-17, starting with “routine”varicose vein treatment, but proceeding to his discovery of extensive blood clots in left leg, immediately, that day, prescribing blood thinner, and then, subsequently from regular checkup ultrasound, finding blood clots in right leg following knee replacement surgery.

In short, Dr. Gotvold knows what he’s doing, and he does not cut corners in getting to the bottom of your problems.
