Spider and Varicose Veins: The Legs Versus Other Parts of the Body

Varicose veins and spider veins appear most commonly in the legs. This is a result of a number of factors including body weight, gravity, and carrying blood up to the heart. The veins in your legs endure the most pressure, making them the most susceptible. Though this is not always the case, as some spider veins can appear along with the nose and other parts of the body as well.

One method of treating small spider veins that appear on the face, legs, thighs, and ankles is the Ohmic Surface Thermolysis System, also known by the trade names of Veinwave and VeinGogh. Using micro-bursts of heat, the Veinwave treats unsightly red, blue, or purple veins that appear just below the surface, causing them to collapse and fade away.

The micro-bursts of heat are applied with a hair-thin probe via thermal energy, meaning the skin does not have to be punctured and veins disappear quickly and permanently with little to no pain and no recovery time needed.

For veins that are more pronounced than spider veins, there’s a number of other treatments available that Austin Vein Specialists provide. A few options include endovenous laser ablation, endovenous laser treatment, or the Venacure EVLT procedure. Scheduling a consultation with Austin Vein Specialists will help determine which procedure is right for you. All of our offerings, from lasers to heat energy, to vein stripping are the most up-to-date and effective practices available.
