Austin Vein Specialists is now offering the amazing Vein Viewer vein treatment technology in Austin, TX to their patients to treat varicose and spider veins.

The Vein Viewer uses harmless infrared light waves to allow our doctors to “see-through” the skin (similar to superman’s x-ray vision) in order to more precisely deliver treatment to unsightly or painful varicose and spider veins of the skin in the legs, face, or other parts of the body.

Previously, the only way to see through the skin to evaluate veins was to use ultrasound machines, which are often large and cumbersome for the doctor to utilize while he is trying to do surface vein treatments such as laser or sclerotherapy. Ultrasound waves often penetrate too deep to be useful at the very surface of the skin and ultrasound machines do not demonstrate the fine detail needed to examine the very small vein in the skin or immediately under the skin.

But now with the use of the VeinViewer device, all of the small surface and skin veins can be examined in extreme detail prior to or during vein treatments of spider veins and varicose veins. The device, therefore, assists vein specialists in performing more precise vein evaluations and treatments.

Dr. Gotvald did some treatment on me a number of years ago, and I was happy with his results so I returned when I needed other treatments performed.

Dr. Gotvald is great at what he does. He is intimately familiar with his specialty, immediately recognizes any issues and has a plan to deal with them. He tells you how the plan will likely progress and he is pretty accurate in his initial assessment.

He performs the procedures with skill and minimizes any discomfort. His entire staff is courteous, professional, and considerate. It is a bit of a drive for me to fight through traffic but always worth it to me for the care that the doctor and staff provide.

I am thoroughly convinced that Dr. Gotvold saved my life between 2016-17, starting with “routine”varicose vein treatment, but proceeding to his discovery of extensive blood clots in left leg, immediately, that day, prescribing blood thinner, and then, subsequently from regular checkup ultrasound, finding blood clots in right leg following knee replacement surgery.

In short, Dr. Gotvold knows what he’s doing, and he does not cut corners in getting to the bottom of your problems.

Ruby at the front desk is really helpful with scheduling and answering insurance/billing questions. Everyone is friendly, welcoming, and professional. The treatment rooms and waiting area are clean and comfortable, and they are great with being on time.
